According to German publication Bild (via The People's Person), Dutch attacker Brian Brobbey of Bundesliga club RB Leipzig has drawn interest from Manchester United.
Another player whose transfer to United has been rumoured is Brian Brobbey, who was formerly supervised by newly appointed manager Erik ten Hag. The 20-year-old attacker played for Ajax on loan during the second half of the previous campaign.
Brobbey went on to score seven goals in 11 league games while playing in Holland, helping the Amsterdam-based team win the Eredivise championship. The aforementioned source claims that Brobbey has been connected with a long-term transfer to Ajax, but Manchester United has now entered the picture.
It's important to note that this summer, the Red Devils have already sabotaged one transaction. Tyrell Malacia, a fullback, was acquired by United from Olympique Lyonnais in Ligue 1.
If the Red Devils wish to compete with Ajax for the signature of Brian Brobbey, they must exercise caution. The potential move of defender Lisandro Martinez to Old Trafford is already the subject of discussions between the two teams.
According to reports, Brian Brobbey and Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag had already spoken over the phone about the trade.
Brian Brobbey's asking price from RB Leipzig is allegedly in the neighbourhood of €15 million.
The cost of the Dutch forward might rise, though, if Manchester United decides to compete for his services. The asking price for their former forward has already been lowered by Ajax.
On Friday, July 8, the Red Devils depart for their preseason tour of Thailand and Australia. So that he can travel with the squad to Asia for their preseason games, they will want to close a deal for Brobbey as soon as possible.
Erik ten Hag will urgently require a replacement as Manchester United's centre forward before the 2022–23 season. Currently, there are uncertainties regarding Cristiano Ronaldo's future.
In order to compete in the UEFA Champions League this summer, the 37-year-old attacker has informed the team that he wishes to leave Old Trafford.
Manchester United's alternatives for a pure number nine in their lineup are limited without Ronaldo. In addition, Edinson Cavani left the organisation after his contract expired on a free transfer.
Only Anthony Martial, a natural center-forward, is left for ten Hag. The Frenchman, nevertheless, struggled to make an impression while on loan at Sevilla during the second part of the previous campaign.
